Terms of Use
Last updated October 14, 2026.
These terms cover your use of americanizedfood.com ("Americanized", "we", "us"). By creating an account or posting anything on the site, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the account features. Reading recipes doesn't need an account.
Who can have an account
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you're under 18, a parent or guardian should review these terms with you. One account per person, please. You're responsible for what happens under your account, so keep access to your email and Google account secure.
Your recipes and comments
You keep ownership of the recipes, photos and comments you post ("your content"). By posting your content publicly, you give Americanized a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, display, format, resize and distribute it on the site and in previews of the site (for example, search results and social media link cards), and to show it alongside advertising. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies that others have already shared, content in backups that are routinely overwritten, and anything we must keep for legal reasons.
Private recipes are visible only to you (and to our moderators if they need to investigate a problem). Published recipes and comments are public.
When you make your own version of one of our recipes, your version links back to the original. Please don't present a copy of someone else's recipe, photo or writing as your own, and don't post anything you don't have the right to share.
Community rules
- Post real recipes and honest comments. Be kind, even when you disagree.
- No spam, advertising, affiliate links or links of any kind in recipes and comments.
- No harassment, hate, threats, sexual content, or anything illegal.
- No dangerous food advice (for example, unsafe canning or undercooking instructions presented as safe).
- Don't use more than one account to vote, or coordinate votes.
- Don't post other people's personal information.
Moderation
New community recipes are visible on the site straight away but are not shown to search engines until we approve them, or until they earn enough upvotes from established members. We may edit formatting, decline to approve, unpublish or remove any content, and suspend or close accounts that break these rules, at our discretion. You can report a recipe or comment with the Report button.
Copyright complaints (DMCA)
If you believe content on Americanized infringes your copyright, email [email protected] with: your contact details; a description of the work you say is infringed; the page address of the material; a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use isn't authorised by the owner, its agent or the law; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner; and your physical or electronic signature. We'll remove material that's properly reported and may close the accounts of repeat infringers. If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake, you can send us a counter-notice to the same address.
Food safety and calories
Recipes are for home cooking. Community recipes are written by members, not tested by us. Calorie numbers are estimates calculated from ingredient lists and can be wrong. Use your own judgement, cook meat to safe temperatures, and check for allergens.
No warranty
The site is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses from using it, and our total liability for any claim is limited to $50.
Emails
We send sign-in links when you ask for them. Anything else is your choice: the weekly recipe email and activity emails (replies, people cooking your recipes) are off unless you tick their boxes, and you can turn them off at any time from Your account or the unsubscribe link in every email. Marketing emails are never a condition of having an account.
Member features
A free account adds saving recipes, syncing your shopping list across devices, pantry scanning, and making and sharing your own recipes. We may change or add features over time, and some features may have fair-use limits (for example, a number of pantry scans per day).
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from Your account. That removes your recipes, photos and votes, and wipes the text of your comments.
Changes
We may update these terms. If a change is significant we'll say so on the site before it takes effect. Questions: [email protected].
